Rodeo

So I will admit that I have never been to a rodeo before. But this weekend the rodeo came to Kingman, so I decided to go. I have to say I felt very out of place amongst the cowboy hats, large belt buckles, and cowboy boots. It really is its' own culture. I did enjoy the barrel racing though. The roping was a little more than the animal lover inside of me could take though. At least I can say that I have been now :)

The FAIR

The fair was in town September 11-14, so of course we had to go since we don't have a movie theater, a mini golf course, or anything else. The theme was "It's a Jungle Out There." Although I'm not entirely sure where that theme came in.

I would have to say the highlight of the fair was my deep fried twinkie :) I was also intrigued by the deep fried snickers and reese cups, but I was glad I opted for the twinkie!

Coming in at a close second were the animals at the fair...

Of course we can't wait until next year :)

It feels like we have been on a worldwind tour the last month. First Utah for 10 days and then the sacred land of Minnesota. Every year my Mom's family gets together at the lake for a week. The cabin itself has seen better days. Think of a 1940's home with no updates. That's right, it's kind of nasty! It was wonderful to see everyone though and Jackson had a great time with all of his cousins. Too bad now he just has Mom and Dad to play with!

Jason Gets Older

We had a surprise birthday party for Jason who turned a big 28!!!!! He is such a great dad to Jackson, here are some recent pics of the two of them together.

We went out to see some petroglyphs, they
were pretty cool!

Vaca in Utah

So we have been in the traveling world the last month, hence not a lot of blogging going on. We spent the Fourth of July in Provo with Grandma Susan, Grandpa David, and Gram. We had a great time and it was fun to see everyone! Jackson and I got to stay for an extra week. Jackson loved being outside in the grass and watching the trees blow in the wind. We don't have much of either in Kingman :) He also loved playing with their dog Remi, that is until Remi decided that he was sick of Jackson getting all the attention and lunged at Jackson. Jackson was a trooper about the whole thing, he cried for a little while but by the end of the day he wanted to be friends with Remi again. Remi on the other hand did not!

Homelessness in AZ

This may seem really dumb, but I didn't think there were a lot of homeless people in Kingman. When we lived in Washington D.C. there were a lot of homeless people, but they were also very visible. It was the same thing in Boston. Anyway, Jackson and I participated in a walk to help the homeless and to raise awareness of the homeless in Kingman. Jackson loved it for about 10 minutes and then he promptly fell asleep!
I went and got a pedicure this weekend and made an appointment to get Jackson's hair cur for the first time, but then today I chickened out and canceled the appointment! I like his longish hair, and besides it's baby hair. Anyway, that was about the extent of our weekend. Oh, we went to eat at Chili's on Saturday. One of about three restaurants in Kingman :)

Jackson

So last night Jackson decided to wake up at midnight and he didn't want to go back to sleep until 3 AM. That's right, three in the morning! I think he's having a tough time because he has been a little under the weather lately and also because of his teeth. Poor kid. Even when he is cranky like that though he is still so much fun and I love being with him. It's hard to believe that he is already seven months old. I have no idea where the time went. It has been so neat watching him grow and change and develop his personality. His latest thing is to shake his head no. He thinks this is the coolest thing, it is actually pretty cute!

The World of Blogging

So almost everyone that I know has started their own blog. So we decided to jump on the band wagon as well. I'm not sure how many posts I'll actually be able to put out, but we'll give it a try.

Just an update we are still in Kingman Arizona where the current temperature is approximately 105 degrees. That's right! Jackson and I are going to be spending much of the summer inside with the air conditioning running full force. Jason is working for Mohave County as a public defender. Overall he enjoys his job and fortunately the people he works with are pretty cool :) Jackson is doing really well he got his first tooth last week and he is so close to crawling. I don't think it will be too much longer!
